Fighting for the everyday

For Australians fighting prostate cancer like Wayne and Con, the ‘everyday’ is even more precious.

Every day we experience simple moments; a dinner with family, a child’s laughter, or a peaceful morning walk. For families facing prostate cancer, these simple moments take on extraordinary importance.

For Australians like Wayne and Con the ‘everyday’ is even more special.

Today, Wayne is cancer free

At 75, Wayne was diagnosed with early stage prostate cancer after a routine checkup showed an increase in his PSA level. An MRI
revealed two small spots indicating cancer.

“Naturally when someone tells you ‘you have cancer,’ it’s a bit of a blow,” Wayne says.

Wayne underwent three months of hormone injections to shrink the cancer, followed by 23 sessions of radiotherapy.
Today, Wayne is in his 80s, in remission from prostate cancer. He is optimistic about the future, and full of praise for the team that
treated him.

More everyday moments for grandfathers like Con

Just months after the devastating loss of his wife to lung cancer, Con was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Con made the difficult decision to have his prostate removed. Years later, Con learned his cancer had spread, and commenced treatment to shrink the spots and stop their spread.

Now 84, Con is grateful to have seen his granddaughter’s wedding and the birth of great-grandchildren.

“Through research I’m sure we’ll find a cure.” he says.
